The Oregon State Capitol building recently celebrated its 75th birthday. The Oregon State Capitol Foundation planned multiple events to wish the Gold Man (the gold-leaf covered statue of a pioneer on the top of the cake like dome) a happy day – including placing huge electric candles on the dome. In addition to the speeches and cakes and dignitaries, my friend – who owns her a lobbying/association management firm and is a classic car aficionado – helped bring more than 20 – 1930’s era classic cars to the event. She asked me to take photos to commemorate the day. And of course, we experienced and un-typical day for September…pouring rain! I was in my work clothes so I was unable to lay on the ground while using the 10-20 (wide-angle) lens, so the images have an other-worldly look to them, but I think it works for these 1930’s beauties. Happy day Gold Man!
