Beer, Brots and Broncos

I just found out that the best place to be on the 4th of July in Oregon is at a rodeo.  I also found out that there are over 600 rodeos held in the country and the St. Paul Rodeo in St. Paul, Oregon ranks in the top 15 for its purse.

The St. Paul Rodeo is a slice of Americana.  Cotton candy, popcorn, cute kids in cowboy boots and sunglasses, horses, bulls, calves, a midway  – not to mention the excitement in the ring.  The opening ceremony was both thrilling and dignified with local and visiting rodeo princesses speeding gracefully around the ring on gorgeous horses.  The announcer recognized all the war veterans participating in the event and those in the stands who served our country. And there was the requisite sixth grade girl singing the hardest song to sing…the national anthem….acapella.  And then there was the rodeo.  Beer, brots and broncs.

  1. Love the rodeo since I actually saw all those happen. I looked for you and Bill but couldn’t find you two. But just love the one of the horse exposing only one eye. Great job!

  2. I think you have another potential “career contract” opportunity. Good rodeo photographers are hard to come by. You did a fantastic job capturing some great rodeo personalities. But then again, I love, love, love your photos.
